Not sure what are you passionate about? No problem!

Not sure what are you passionate about? No problem!
28-Feb

Well, let me start with my personal experience. I have always been good in math and physics and wanted to become an engineer. However, after high school I decided to enroll in medical school to study pharmacy. After finishing my first semester I decided to go for marketing. I started my second semester in an entirely different school, studying advertising and marketing.

I knew by then, it is not always what subjects you like, or definitely not what your parents want you to become. It is about what you are really good at, and passionate about.

We think we desire something because someone else is desiring it. We have so many options. Our community or parents tell us what to like. We are biased by our surroundings and it is time to change that.

We can be passionate about a hundred things. Tying ourselves to one thing only works as a downer. Human beings are capable of multi-tasking, becoming multi-lingual, and being multi-passionate. You can be passionate about science, music, reading, communication, writing, and travelling all at the same time.

It took me 3 years to start what I really wanted, after a lot of experiments in different jobs. But how did I know what I wanted? Let us go through some of the things I felt the need to do.

Ask Yourself

what am I good at? Think about things you do not feel bored, sick, or tired of doing every single day. Think of your skills and how you can use them in your career. I am not saying to limit yourself to one thing only but use this skill to bring your passion to reality.

Do not get obsessed with discovering your passion

Putting so much pressure on yourself will make you end up not doing any progress. You need courage; what is needed to experiment and try. You need patience; take your time, you only live once.

Do your research

This will help you discover how to utilize your passion in the best way possible. It will also help you find others who share the same passion with you, and communities to help you out.

Practice. Practice. Practice.

If you have a certain skill, do not quit practicing. Learn more, study more. Learning is a continuous journey.

Cling Onto Chances

Do not miss one chance to start with. Big opportunities begin small, and they grow bigger with your efforts and hard work.

Finding your passion is hard yet approachable. Just ask yourself whether you are willing to fight for it? Sacrifice for it? and face difficulties? If you tick these boxes, then Congratulations.
